Hot sauce or crema for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Tuna Salad
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, Greek yogurt or mayo, lime juice, mustard, garlic powder, pepper, and a pinch of salt.
-
Mix until creamy and well combined.
-
Stir in chopped cilantro if using.
-
Taste and adjust seasoning—add more lime juice or salt as needed.
Step 2: Prep the Toppings
-
While the tuna rests, prep your fresh toppings—shred the lettuce, dice tomatoes and avocado, and thinly slice red onion and jalapeño.
-
If desired, mash avocado with a squeeze of lime and a pinch of salt.
Step 3: Assemble the Tostadas
-
Lay out tostada shells on a serving plate.
-
Spread a generous spoonful of tuna salad on each shell.
-
Top with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, red onion, and jalapeño slices.
-
Sprinkle with queso fresco or shredded cheese.
-
Finish with a drizzle of hot sauce or crema and an extra squeeze of lime.
Step 4: Serve
-
Serve immediately for the ultimate crunch.
-
Add tortilla chips and salsa or a side of rice to round out the meal.
Notes
Use Quality Tuna – Albacore or solid white tuna in water or olive oil works best.
Don’t Overload – Too many toppings can cause the tostada to break.
Serve Fresh – Assemble right before eating to keep the tostadas crisp.
Make It Spicy – Add a dash of hot sauce or sliced jalapeños to the tuna salad.
Switch It Up – Try with smoked tuna or canned salmon for variety.
