Ingredients

Scale

For the Tuna Salad:

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water or olive oil, drained

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt or mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp lime juice (plus more for serving)

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional for extra flavor)

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro (optional)

For the Tostadas:

  • 68 store-bought or homemade tostada shells

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce or cabbage

  • ½ cup diced tomatoes or cherry tomatoes, halved

  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion

  • 1 avocado, diced or mashed

  • 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional for heat)

  • Crumbled queso fresco or shredded cheese (optional)

  • Hot sauce or crema for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Tuna Salad

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, Greek yogurt or mayo, lime juice, mustard, garlic powder, pepper, and a pinch of salt.

  2. Mix until creamy and well combined.

  3. Stir in chopped cilantro if using.

  4. Taste and adjust seasoning—add more lime juice or salt as needed.

Step 2: Prep the Toppings

  1. While the tuna rests, prep your fresh toppings—shred the lettuce, dice tomatoes and avocado, and thinly slice red onion and jalapeño.

  2. If desired, mash avocado with a squeeze of lime and a pinch of salt.

Step 3: Assemble the Tostadas

  1. Lay out tostada shells on a serving plate.

  2. Spread a generous spoonful of tuna salad on each shell.

  3. Top with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, red onion, and jalapeño slices.

  4. Sprinkle with queso fresco or shredded cheese.

  5. Finish with a drizzle of hot sauce or crema and an extra squeeze of lime.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Serve immediately for the ultimate crunch.

  2. Add tortilla chips and salsa or a side of rice to round out the meal.

Notes

Use Quality Tuna – Albacore or solid white tuna in water or olive oil works best.
Don’t Overload – Too many toppings can cause the tostada to break.
Serve Fresh – Assemble right before eating to keep the tostadas crisp.
Make It Spicy – Add a dash of hot sauce or sliced jalapeños to the tuna salad.
Switch It Up – Try with smoked tuna or canned salmon for variety.
