Description

The BEST Spritz Cookies are buttery, melt-in-your-mouth treats that are as fun to make as they are to eat! These classic cookies are easy to customize with different shapes, colors, and toppings, making them perfect for holidays, special occasions, or anytime you crave something sweet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Do not grease your baking sheets; the cookies need a non-greased surface to stick slightly and hold their shape.

Step 2: Make the Dough

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This takes about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 3: Shape the Cookies

  1. Load the dough into a cookie press or a piping bag fitted with your desired tip.
  2. Press or pipe the dough directly onto the baking sheets, spacing the cookies about 1 inch apart. Add sprinkles or decorations if desired.

Step 4: Bake

  1. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 6-8 minutes, or until the edges are just barely golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use Room Temperature Butter: This helps achieve the perfect dough consistency.
  • Don’t Chill the Dough: The dough needs to be soft to press or pipe easily.
  • Work Quickly: If the dough starts to stiffen, warm the cookie press slightly with your hands.
