Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 2 tablespoons strawberry jam
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Puff Pastry
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle. Cut into 6 equal squares.
Step 2: Make the Cream Cheese Filling
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
Step 3: Assemble the Danishes
- Place a dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each puff pastry square.
- Top with a spoonful of diced strawberries and a small drizzle of strawberry jam.
- Fold the corners of each square toward the center, slightly overlapping them. Gently press to secure.
Step 4: Add the Egg Wash
- Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg to ensure a golden, shiny finish.
Step 5: Bake to Perfection
- Place the assembled Danishes on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
- Allow the Danishes to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar for a finishing touch. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use Cold Puff Pastry: This ensures the pastry stays flaky while baking.
- Keep the Filling Thick: Avoid overloading the pastry with filling to prevent sogginess.
- Customize Your Fruit: Swap strawberries for raspberries, blueberries, or peaches for variety.
