Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ravioli – Use cheese, spinach, or meat-filled ravioli.
  • 2 tbsp butter – For a rich, creamy base.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil – Helps sauté the mushrooms perfectly.
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced – Cremini or button mushrooms work great.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced – Adds amazing depth of flavor.
  • ½ tsp salt – Enhances the taste of the sauce.
  • ¼ tsp black pepper – Adds a subtle kick.
  • ½ cup vegetable or chicken broth – Helps create a flavorful sauce base.
  • 1 cup heavy cream – Makes the sauce thick and luscious.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese – Adds a nutty, salty finish.
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme or ½ tsp dried thyme – Complements the mushrooms beautifully.
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional) – For a hint of heat.
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped – For garnish and freshness.

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Ravioli

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the ravioli and cook according to the package instructions (usually 3-5 minutes).
  3. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

Step 2: Sauté the Mushrooms

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and softened.
  3. Stir in the garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 3: Make the Creamy Sauce

  1. Pour in the broth and let it simmer for 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  2. Reduce heat to low and add the heavy cream, stirring to combine.
  3. Let the sauce simmer gently for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 4: Add the Cheese & Ravioli

  1. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt into the sauce.
  2. Add the cooked ravioli to the skillet, gently tossing to coat in the sauce.
  3. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up.

Step 5: Serve and Garnish

  1. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and red pepper flakes (if using).
  2. Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Ravioli – Fresh ravioli cooks quickly and has the best texture.
  • Don’t Overcook the Ravioli – Drain it as soon as it’s tender to prevent it from becoming mushy.
  • Balance the Sauce – If the sauce gets too thick, add a splash of broth or pasta water.
  • Add Protein – Want to make it heartier? Add grilled chicken or shrimp.
