Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup frozen peas or mixed vegetables
  • 2 green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Sear the Steak

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season steak pieces with salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder.
  3. Add steak to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Honey Garlic Butter Sauce
4. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet and let it melt.
5. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
6. Mix in honey and soy sauce, stirring well. Let simmer for 1 minute.

Step 3: Cook the Rice
7. Add uncooked rice to the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce.
8. Pour in beef broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
9. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the rice cook for 15-18 minutes until tender.

Step 4: Combine and Finish
10. Stir in the frozen peas or mixed vegetables and cooked steak bites.
11. Cover and cook for another 3-5 minutes, until vegetables are heated through and steak is warm.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
12. Garnish with chopped green onions, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy this flavorful skillet meal!

Notes

  • Choose the Right Steak: Use tender cuts like sirloin or ribeye for the best results.
  • Cook in Batches: Avoid overcrowding the skillet when searing the steak for even browning.
  • Make it Spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce for some heat.
  • Swap the Veggies: Use whatever vegetables you have on hand, like carrots, green beans, or bell peppers.
