Ingredients

  • Hawaiian Rolls (1 pack, about 12 rolls) – Soft and slightly sweet.
  • Eggs (3 large) – Creates a rich custard.
  • Milk (¾ cup, whole or 2%) – Adds creaminess.
  • Vanilla Extract (1 tsp) – Enhances the flavor.
  • Ground Cinnamon (½ tsp) – Adds warmth.
  • Salt (¼ tsp) – Balances the sweetness.
  • Butter (2 tbsp, for cooking) – For a golden-brown crust.
  • Maple Syrup (for serving) – A classic topping.
  • Powdered Sugar (for garnish, optional) – Adds a touch of sweetness.
  • Fresh Berries (for topping, optional) – For a fresh, fruity contrast.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Custard

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Step 2: Soak the Rolls

  1. Separate the Hawaiian rolls but keep them slightly touching if you prefer pull-apart style.
  2. Dip each roll in the egg mixture, letting it soak for about 10–15 seconds per side.

Step 3: Cook the French Toast

  1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter.
  2. Cook the soaked rolls for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

 

  1. Plate the French toast and drizzle with maple syrup.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar and top with fresh berries if desired.

Notes

  • Don’t Over-Soak – Too much liquid makes them soggy.
