Ingredients
- Hawaiian Rolls (1 pack, about 12 rolls) – Soft and slightly sweet.
- Eggs (3 large) – Creates a rich custard.
- Milk (¾ cup, whole or 2%) – Adds creaminess.
- Vanilla Extract (1 tsp) – Enhances the flavor.
- Ground Cinnamon (½ tsp) – Adds warmth.
- Salt (¼ tsp) – Balances the sweetness.
- Butter (2 tbsp, for cooking) – For a golden-brown crust.
- Maple Syrup (for serving) – A classic topping.
- Powdered Sugar (for garnish, optional) – Adds a touch of sweetness.
- Fresh Berries (for topping, optional) – For a fresh, fruity contrast.
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Custard
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Step 2: Soak the Rolls
- Separate the Hawaiian rolls but keep them slightly touching if you prefer pull-apart style.
- Dip each roll in the egg mixture, letting it soak for about 10–15 seconds per side.
Step 3: Cook the French Toast
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter.
- Cook the soaked rolls for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
Step 4: Serve & Enjoy
- Plate the French toast and drizzle with maple syrup.
- Dust with powdered sugar and top with fresh berries if desired.
Notes
- Don’t Over-Soak – Too much liquid makes them soggy.
- Use Butter for Cooking – It gives a rich, golden crust.
- Low & Slow – Cook on medium heat to prevent burning.
- Make It Extra Indulgent – Add a drizzle of caramel or Nutella!
