Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round loaf of bread (e.g., sourdough or boule)
  • 1 wheel of brie cheese (about 8 oz)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • For dipping: Assorted bread pieces, crackers, or vegetable sticks

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Bread Bowl

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice off the top of the bread loaf and hollow out the center to create a bread bowl. Save the removed bread pieces for dipping.
  3. Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 2: Prep the Brie

  1. Carefully cut the top rind off the brie to expose the cheese. Place the brie inside the hollowed-out bread bowl.

Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter

  1. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, thyme (if using), salt, and pepper.

Step 4: Assemble and Bake

  1. Brush the inside of the bread bowl and the exposed brie with the garlic butter mixture.
  2. Drizzle some of the garlic butter over the bread chunks you saved for dipping.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the brie is melted and bubbly and the bread is golden brown.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Remove the bread bowl from the oven, let it cool slightly, and serve warm with the toasted bread pieces, crackers, or veggies for dipping.

Notes

  • Choose a Good Bread: A sturdy round loaf works best to hold the melted cheese without collapsing.
  • Add a Sweet Twist: Drizzle honey over the baked brie for a touch of sweetness that complements the garlic butter.
  • Make It Extra Cheesy: Add shredded mozzarella or Gruyère on top of the brie before baking for extra gooeyness.
  • Serve Immediately: This dish is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven while the cheese is warm and melty.
