Ingredients
For the Pears:
3 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou work well)
Juice of ½ lemon (to prevent browning)
For the Filling:
⅓ cup crumbled blue cheese (Gorgonzola or Roquefort recommended)
¼ cup cream cheese or mascarpone (optional for a creamier blend)
¼ cup chopped toasted walnuts or pecans
2 tbsp honey (plus more for drizzling)
1 tbsp fresh rosemary or thyme, finely chopped (optional)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional Garnish:
Microgreens or arugula
Balsamic glaze
Pomegranate seeds
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pears
Cut each pear in half lengthwise and scoop out the core with a melon baller or spoon.
Brush the cut sides with lemon juice to prevent browning.
If needed, slice a small piece from the back of each half to help them sit flat.
Step 2: Make the Filling
In a bowl, combine blue cheese, cream cheese (if using), chopped nuts, honey, and fresh herbs.
Season with a small pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until creamy but still slightly chunky.
Step 3: Stuff the Pears
Spoon the filling into the hollowed-out center of each pear half.
Drizzle lightly with extra honey and a sprinkle of chopped nuts or herbs if desired.
Step 4: Plate & Garnish
Arrange on a platter or individual plates. Garnish with microgreens, arugula, or pomegranate seeds.
Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze for extra flair and tang (optional).
Step 5: Serve Immediately
Best served fresh and slightly chilled.
Notes
Choose Ripe But Firm Pears – Too soft and they’ll fall apart; too hard and they won’t be juicy.
Toast the Nuts – A few minutes in the pan brings out their flavor.
Balance the Cheese – If blue cheese is too strong, mellow it with mascarpone or cream cheese.
Make-Ahead Friendly – Prep the filling ahead and assemble just before serving.
Add a Crunch – Sprinkle with crushed candied nuts or crispy shallots for texture.
