Ingredients
Scale
For the Chicken:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Bang Bang Sauce:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1–2 teaspoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Place the beaten eggs in a separate bowl.
- Dip each piece of chicken into the egg, then into the flour mixture, coating thoroughly.
Step 2: Fry the Chicken
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil reaches 350°F (175°C), fry the chicken in batches for 4-5 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 3: Make the Bang Bang Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, honey, and hot sauce until smooth. Taste and adjust the heat level if desired.
Step 4: Toss and Serve
- Toss the crispy chicken pieces in the Bang Bang sauce until evenly coated.
- Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- Pat the Chicken Dry: Ensures the coating adheres properly.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Pan: Fry in batches to keep the oil temperature consistent.
- Make it Spicier: Add more hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce.
- Bake Instead of Fry: For a lighter version, bake the coated chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
