For the Banana Bread:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven & Prepare the Pan

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper.

Step 2: Make the Banana Bread Batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  2. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Do not overmix.

Step 3: Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling

  1. In a separate bowl, beat together cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 4: Make the Cinnamon Swirl

  1. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.

Step 5: Assemble the Banana Bread

  1. Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  2. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar over the batter.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cinnamon sugar.
  4. Pour the remaining banana bread batter on top and spread gently.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar on top and use a knife to gently swirl it into the batter.

Step 6: Bake Until Golden

  1. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Step 7: Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Use Overripe Bananas – The riper, the sweeter and more flavorful the bread.
Swirl Gently – Don’t overmix the cinnamon swirl to keep layers distinct.
For a Chilled Treat – Refrigerate and serve cold for a cheesecake-like texture.
For a Healthier Version – Swap half the flour for whole wheat flour and use Greek yogurt instead of butter.
