Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownie Base:

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus eggs, oil, and water as directed)

  • ½ tsp almond extract (optional, enhances cherry flavor)

For the Filling:

  • 24 maraschino cherries, drained and patted dry

For the Chocolate Coating:

  • 12 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or shortening (for smooth melting)

Optional Toppings:

  • White chocolate drizzle

  • Sprinkles

  • Crushed nuts

  • Crushed freeze-dried cherries

Instructions

Step 1: Bake the Brownies

  1. Prepare the brownie batter according to package instructions.

  2. Stir in almond extract if using.

  3. Pour into a greased or parchment-lined baking pan.

  4. Bake and cool completely. Brownies should be firm but still moist.

Step 2: Prep the Cherries

  1. Drain maraschino cherries well.

  2. Place them on a paper towel and gently pat dry to remove excess moisture.

  3. Set aside.

Step 3: Make the Brownie Balls

  1. Once brownies are cool, break them up in a bowl until they form a soft, fudgy dough.

  2. Scoop about 1½ tablespoons of brownie dough.

  3. Flatten slightly and place one cherry in the center.

  4. Wrap the brownie around the cherry and roll into a smooth ball.

  5. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  6. Repeat with all cherries, then chill the brownie balls in the fridge for 20–30 minutes.

Step 4: Melt the Chocolate

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips with coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.

Step 5: Dip the Brownie Bombs

  1. Use a fork or dipping tool to lower each chilled brownie bomb into the melted chocolate.

  2. Tap off excess chocolate and place on parchment paper.

  3. Add sprinkles or toppings before chocolate sets, if desired.

Step 6: Let Them Set

  1. Let the coated brownie bombs rest at room temperature or chill in the fridge for 10–15 minutes until the chocolate hardens.

  2. Once set, they’re ready to serve or store.

Notes

Use Fudgy Brownies – Avoid overbaking for a soft, pliable dough.
Dry Cherries Well – Prevents slipping and helps chocolate set.
Chill Before Dipping – Keeps the brownie balls firm during coating.
Customize the Chocolate – Use dark, milk, or white chocolate based on your taste.
Add a Finishing Touch – Drizzle with melted white chocolate or decorate with edible glitter for holidays.
