Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
2¾ cups all-purpose flour
1½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
¼ cup granulated sugar
1½ tsp ground cinnamon

For the Maple Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp pure maple syrup
1–2 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prep
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Dough
In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined. Don’t overmix. The dough will be soft.

Step 3: Roll & Coat
In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar for the coating.
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, scoop dough and roll into balls (about 1.5 inches wide).
Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
Place dough balls about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Bake the Cookies
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just set and the centers still look slightly soft.
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Step 5: Make the Maple Glaze
While the cookies cool, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and 1 tablespoon of milk.
Add more milk, a little at a time, until the glaze is smooth and drizzle-worthy.
Add a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor if desired.

Step 6: Glaze & Serve
Once cookies are cool, drizzle glaze over the tops using a spoon or piping bag.
Allow glaze to set for about 10 minutes before serving or storing.

Notes

Use Room Temperature Ingredients – This ensures the dough mixes evenly and stays fluffy.
Don’t Overbake – Slightly underbaking keeps the cookies chewy in the center.
Adjust Glaze Consistency – Thicker for bold stripes, thinner for a light drizzle.
Chill Dough for Thicker Cookies – If you prefer puffier cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
Add a Dash of Maple Extract – For extra maple punch in the dough or glaze.
